1. Mafadi

Mafadi is the highest peak in South Africa. Its height is 3450 m. The mountain is located on the border of South Africa and Lesotho, and on the territory of the latter there is a higher peak related to Mafadi. Thabana-Ntlenyana rises to 3482 m, the highest peak in the Drakensberg mountain.

2. Champaign-Kasli or Champagne Castle

At an altitude of 3377 m, it is the second highest mountain in South Africa. It is located in the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Mount Champaign-Kasli is mainly composed of basalt. It was first conquered at the beginning of the 20th century, and the pastor is considered its forerunner.

3. Popple Peak

This mountain in South Africa is part of the Drakensberg Mountains. Its height reaches 3331 m. It is located in KwaZulu-Natal on the border between South Africa and Lesotho. Locals call this peak Khulu. Although such a peak is actually slightly further away than Popple, its height is only 3048 m.

This is one of the highest mountains in South Africa, named in honor of climber John Poppleton. He reached the summit in 1946. But when he reached the peak, a thunderstorm broke out.

4. Cathedral peak ( Cathedral Peak)

The height of one of the highest peaks in South Africa reaches 3004 m. It is mainly composed of basalt. The summit was first conquered in 1917. BassettSmith and R.G. Kingdon were the pioneers.

This is an easy mountain to climb in South Africa. Using the simplest route, you can climb to the top of the mountain in 1 day. Cathedral Peak is surrounded by many other mountains, including Gemini, Bell, Outer and Inner Spurs, Chess Pieces and Miter Peak.

5. Mount of Fountains (Mont-Aux-sources)

This mountain closes the five mountains of South Africa. It is also one of the highest areas in the Drakensberg Mountains. The mountain is a basalt plateau with an average height of about 3050 m, and the highest point is 3282 m.
